What we collect, and what we don't.

What we collect

• Contact form (/contact): name, email, organization (optional), the topic you picked, and your message.
• Lab-updates subscription (/subscribe and the form on /mission/games/): email, plus optionally your game handle and which page or game referred you.
• Game scores: if you submit a score from one of our four leaderboard games, we store the handle you chose, the score, the game, the daily-seed string, an anonymous client identifier (a per-browser UUID, not tied to your identity), and a tiny bit of run metadata (e.g. wave reached). We do not collect your email through the leaderboard.
• Golden Sample Hunt (/golden-sample-26): if you submit the hunt form, the answers go to a Google Form (Google's terms apply there). If you win, we use the email and US mailing address you provide to ship a sequencing kit and return your results. We don't use that information for anything else.
• Server + edge logs: Cloudflare logs IP addresses and request metadata for every request to biokea.ai — the standard stuff a CDN keeps. We don't run our own analytics on top.

What we use it for

• Replying to your email when you contact us.
• Sending you the lab updates you opted into. Examples: a new game drops, a paper goes out, the Golden Sample Hunt opens. No shared lists, no pixel tracking, no third-party re-targeting.
• Showing your handle and score on the public game leaderboards. The handle is the only identifier surfaced to other players.
• Fulfilling Golden Sample Hunt prizes if you win.
• Spam / abuse defense (rate-limit and handle moderation on score submissions).

Who we share with

We don't sell, rent, or trade your data. We use a small set of vendors as data processors:

• Supabase — stores subscribers and game scores.
• Resend — sends transactional and lab-update emails.
• Cloudflare — hosts and proxies biokea.ai.
• Google Forms — collects Golden Sample Hunt entries (Google's privacy policy applies).

If a court orders us to disclose data, we'll comply, but we don't volunteer it.

How long we keep it

• Contact form messages: archived in our team inbox indefinitely, since they're often the start of an ongoing conversation.
• Lab-updates subscribers: until you unsubscribe.
• Game scores: indefinitely (they're the leaderboard).
• CDN logs: per Cloudflare's retention.

Your rights

Email contact@biokea.ai any time and we'll:

• Tell you what we have on you.
• Update or correct it.
• Delete it (we'll confirm when it's done).
• Unsubscribe you from lab updates (or use the unsubscribe link in any of our emails).

If you're a California or EU resident, the same applies — CCPA / GDPR rights are honored on request.

Cookies

The site itself doesn't set tracking cookies. The games store a few values in your browser's localStorage (your handle, a per-browser anonymous UUID for rate limiting, your local high scores). Clearing site data resets all of that.

Children

The Golden Sample Hunt is restricted to US residents 18 and over. For everything else, the games are family-friendly but the site isn't intentionally directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.

Changes

If this policy changes meaningfully, we'll update the Last updated date and flag the change in a lab-updates email. Cosmetic edits we won't bother you about.
